ABOUT THIS LESSON
About This 9/11 ESL Lesson
How can an event you do not remember still shape your life? This C1–C2 special edition explores how September 11, 2001 continues to influence the present as the attacks move from living memory into history.
Students read and listen to an advanced article about the attacks, airport security, surveillance, foreign policy and inherited assumptions. They examine five advanced expressions, test their comprehension and discuss how history is remembered across generations.
Groups assess six aspects of modern life, distinguishing changes transformed by 9/11 from those merely accelerated or largely unrelated. In the speaking challenge, students decide what a younger class must learn and which image not to show, then defend their choices against parents’ objections. The lesson concludes with a 200–250 word opinion task.
