About This Beginner Four-Day Workweek ESL Lesson

Five days at work and two days off feels normal to many people. This A1–A2 lesson asks a simple question: could working four days make life better?

Students read about companies trying a four-day week with the same pay and consider possible benefits such as more rest and less stress. They also discover why the idea cannot work in the same way for every job.

Students compare different jobs in the Who Gets It? activity, prepare reasons to persuade a manager to try a four-day week, and finish with a short opinion-writing task.

The idea is not to do less work. It is to do the same work in less time. Very long hours often bring stress, and a tired worker is slow and makes mistakes.
