About This Beginner Digital Detox ESL Lesson

Phones are part of everyday life, but many of us use them more often than we realise. This A1–A2 lesson gives students accessible language for talking about their own phone habits and screen time.

Students read about the idea of a digital detox and consider simple changes such as keeping phones away from the dinner table or bedroom. They also discuss the useful side of technology and why completely switching off is not always realistic.

The lesson includes an Honest Audit of common phone habits, a screen-free Saturday speaking challenge and a short opinion-writing task.

Technology is not the enemy. The same phone can translate a language, call an ambulance, or show your grandmother your face. The problem is not the phone. The problem is how often we pick it up.
