ABOUT THIS LESSON
About This Advanced Birth Rate ESL Lesson
Birth rates are falling across much of the world. At the same time, many young adults still hope to have children, raising difficult questions about housing, childcare, careers, financial pressure and personal choice.
This C1–C2 lesson explores the causes and consequences of falling fertility rates. Students consider aging populations, pension systems, immigration and the limits of government attempts to influence deeply personal decisions.
Students evaluate six possible policies, decide which could genuinely raise the birth rate, and then propose and defend one government response under challenge.
