About This Beginner Longevity ESL Lesson

Scientists are studying why our bodies get old and whether aging can be slowed. Their goal is not simply to make people live longer, but to give people more healthy years.

This A1–A2 lesson introduces students to aging and longevity through accessible language while raising simple questions about medicine, fairness, pensions and what makes a long life a good one.

Students decide how a city should spend a limited health budget, explain their choices as a health committee and finish by considering whether new medicine should be free for everybody.

Their goal is not only a long life. It is more healthy years. Most people do not want to be 110 in a hospital bed. They want to be ninety and still walking, cooking and laughing with friends.
