ABOUT THIS LESSON
About This Advanced Pokémon ESL Lesson
Pokémon has lasted for three decades while countless games, toys and cartoons have disappeared. Its success stretches far beyond games into trading cards, merchandise, television, movies and a global community of fans.
This C1–C2 lesson explores why Pokémon has endured. Students consider collecting, nostalgia, friendship, marketing and consumerism, while debating whether its longevity comes from clever commercial strategy or something closer to shared culture.
Students evaluate six possible explanations for its staying power, decide which matter most, and then develop and defend a strategy for relaunching a forgotten childhood brand.
