ABOUT THIS LESSON
About This Overtourism ESL Lesson
More people travel today than ever before, and some beautiful places now receive more visitors than they can manage. Students explore how busy tourism can affect streets, prices, local shops and the people who live in popular destinations.
This free A1–A2 Overtourism ESL lesson explores what happens when a place gets more visitors than it can manage. Students learn how tourism can create crowded streets and higher prices, while also bringing jobs and money, then give simple opinions about possible solutions.
The lesson combines an accessible original reading and audio with vocabulary, true-or-false comprehension, discussion and critical thinking. Students use simple English to discuss tourists and residents, choose rules as a town council, complete language-in-context practice, present ideas and write a 60–100 word opinion.
