About This Beginner Microplastics ESL Lesson

Microplastics are very small pieces of plastic found in water, food and the environment. They can come from larger plastic waste as well as everyday products and materials.

This A1–A2 lesson uses accessible English to explore where microplastics come from, why they are difficult to avoid and how everyday choices can reduce plastic waste.

Students compare practical ways to reduce plastic, discuss which changes are easiest or most useful and defend their choices in a speaking challenge.

Microplastics are tiny pieces of plastic. They are in the sea, in rivers and even in some food and drinks. Scientists are still learning what this means for people and the planet.
