Coffee or Tea?

About This Coffee and Tea ESL Lesson

Coffee or tea? This A1–A2 lesson looks at how people welcome guests and enjoy drinks in different countries. Students discover tea in Turkey, espresso in Italy, coffee in America, and long café visits in Korea.

Students read and listen to a short article about where coffee and tea came from and how popular drinks spread around the world. They learn five useful words and answer five true-or-false questions before discussing their own habits.

In Open One Café, groups choose a menu and plan a café for a new city. Students then role-play interviews about an old tea house closing and a new café opening, before writing a 60–100 word opinion.
