About This Beginner Future of Work ESL Lesson

Machines and artificial intelligence can now complete tasks that once needed people. They can write, answer customers, examine images and repeat the same work quickly, raising new questions about which jobs may change in the future.

This A1–A2 lesson uses accessible English to explore machines at work, the tasks they do well and the human skills that remain difficult to replace.

Students discuss jobs and technology, decide which roles should stay human, create a simple rule for their choices and defend a decision in a speaking challenge.

A machine can write a letter in one second. It can look at a photo of your lungs and find a problem. It can answer a customer at two in the morning. So many people ask the same question: will a machine take my job?
