Side Hustle ESL Lesson: The Side Hustle

About This Side Hustle ESL Lesson

For many people, one job is no longer enough. Some start a side hustle to earn extra money, develop new skills, test a business idea or gain more control over their future.

This B1–B2 Side Hustle ESL lesson explores both sides of the side hustle economy. Students examine the appeal of flexible work and entrepreneurship while also considering unstable income, long working hours, burnout and the pressure to turn every hobby into profit.

The lesson combines an original reading and audio with vocabulary, comprehension, discussion questions and critical-thinking activities. Students use English to discuss money, ambition, entrepreneurship, job security, personal time, flexible work and work-life balance.
