ABOUT THIS LESSON
About This Looksmaxxing ESL Lesson
People have always tried to improve their appearance, but social media has made self-improvement more visible, measurable and competitive. For some people, looking better is no longer simply about style or fitness. It becomes an ongoing project.
This B1–B2 Looksmaxxing ESL lesson explores skincare, exercise, hairstyles, fashion, cosmetic treatments and surgery. Students consider whether looksmaxxing can build confidence and encourage positive self-improvement or whether it creates unrealistic beauty standards and constant dissatisfaction.
The lesson combines an original reading and audio with vocabulary, comprehension, discussion questions and critical-thinking activities. Students use English to discuss appearance pressure, beauty standards, social media, confidence, self-image and how far people should go to change the way they look.
