This B1–B2 Rage Bait ESL lesson explores how deliberately provocative opinions, videos, headlines and behavior can turn anger into online engagement. Students examine how comments, arguments, shares and replays can help controversial content spread through social media algorithms.
The lesson combines an original reading and audio with vocabulary, comprehension, discussion questions and critical-thinking activities. Students use English to discuss social media, algorithms, outrage, online manipulation, engagement and whether reacting to rage bait actually helps it succeed.
